With all the electricity crackling from the other two buildings at Lincoln Center, the announcement of the New York Philharmonic's 2007-2008 season may have gotten lost in the shuffle. So when ANAblog mentioned Luciano Berio and O King (the latest post in a series on the composer), it seemed a good time to mention that Lorin Maazel will be conducting Sinfonia next January with Synergy Vocals, followed by Philharmonic soloists in the complete Sequenzas, and Alan Gilbert directing the Folk Songs with Audra McDonald. Then in May, David Robertson will conduct Rendering (1989), Berio's fascinating look at Schubert's sketches for his Tenth Symphony.
And there is more Berio in the fall, with Maazel in the rarely done Four Original Versions of Ritirata notturna di Madrid by L. Boccherini. Superimposed and Transcribed for Orchestra (1975).
