Later in the spring, I'll be returning to Los Angeles to hear a program of Gubaidulina and Schnittke in Disney Hall, and at the risk of sounding like some annoying tape loop, anyone who loves music should consider making a pilgrimage out there to see what Gehry and Toyota have wrought. (Gehry regularly attends concerts there, so you might conceivably bump into him, to let him know in person what a glorious structure he has created.)
Meanwhile, here's an excellent assessment by Timothy Mangan of last night's Green Umbrella concert marking the 25th Anniversary of the Los Angeles New Music Group, with a great program of Witold Lutoslawski, Franco Donatoni, Steven Stucky and Esa-Pekka Salonen. Makes me wish I'd been there.
